All the news that’s fit to print

1st July 2005

With all this talk of logos, I’ve neglected to keep you informed of anything else. So, by way of apology, here’s a news bulletin featuring Steve Sharpe, Oasis, Black Convoy, Project Facade, Simplified Standards and 35,000 Mancunians.

Agenzia welcomes Steve Sharpe

On Monday morning, Steve Sharpe joined Agenzia as a full-time web developer. I’m delighted to have Steve working next to me, and I am successfully passing all the hard work his way. Welcome to my pain, Steve.

New issue of Black Convoy

After the bright yellow of June’s issue, July’s Black Convoy is somewhat pink. Still, you’ll find 13 fresh images from the cream of UK illustrators on there. Go see.

Project Facade is filling out

The Project Facade site has had a bit of a face-lift this week. Plus, lots of new content despite project leader Paddy having both his studio and house broken in to. The poor chap’s lost as much Apple equipment as you can dream of. Spare him a thought.

35,000 people: “Yuur mah Wunderwhaaal (hic!)”

Last night, Emma and I found our way to Manchester to see the Super Furry Animals and Oasis at the City Of Manchester Stadium (Manchester City’s amazing new home). Missed SFA due to bad traffic, then saw Oasis play the same set as they did last time I saw them, except this time all I heard was 35,000 Mancunians singing instead. And I couldn’t see anything. And I got covered in beer. Great atmosphere though. Check out Emma’s picture of the crowd - amazing what you can do with an s700i.

Simplified Standards logo

Whooof! Around one million comments/votes haven’t really helped choose the winner. I’m gonna go through all of your opinions and reveal the winner, runners-up, and name all the participants on Sunday 3rd July. Stay tuned, it’ll soon be over.

Simplified Standards website

Owing to work commitments and sunny weather here in the UK, the Simplified Standards website will arrive a little later than planned. I expect it will be ready around mid-July. Many thanks for your patience.

Finally…

Nottingham welcomes Emma, who has for some inexplicable reason left the power and the glory of that London for the depression and squalor of my fair Nottingham. So, my house is now full of weird cosmetics products, shoes and (gasp!) a PC. Anyway, it’s good news - not least for my phone bill.

That’s yer lot

Lots more waffle to come soon. If you can be bothered, feel free to offload your news. I’m always interested to know what you’re all up to. In the meantime, it seems I have to go to Ikea. Oh well…

Welcome to the weird, whacky world of co-habitation and best of luck in Ikea. What you need is this company: I Go to IKEA (so you don’t have to).

“Yuur mah Wunderwhaaal (hic!)” and getting covered in beer sounds like a night out in Manchester even when Oasis aren’t playing!

Oh..no… a woman has moved in! DIY in favour of blog posts then?  :o)

I went to the City of Manchester stadium on the following Saturday night to see Oasis. I was hit by many flying pint glasses and blow up footballs but all the in fun. They played Acquiesce as well (different from the other gig you went to) which is an absolute classic and cannot be forgotten.

They did have a minor argument on stage although that was because the gig was delayed for 20 minutes while they fixed a broken barrier which happened about a minute after they’d come on and Liam was shouting for everyone to “Come on” where as Noel was telling people to calm down so people didn’t get crushed.

Oh the fun! :-)

Richy: Actually they did play Acquiesce when we saw them, so I guess the setlist wasn’t quite the same as the London gig. The Some Might Say EP was an absolute classic - Headshrinker and the unparalleled Talk Tonight. Oh, that takes me back…
