Bit of a personal, Nottingham-based post here. Feel free to ignore if you live in Wyoming, Watford or wherever.

So, for the record I have to give them a plug here. I’ve rarely had such a wonderful night in Nottingham. Simply delicious, unpretentious food that filled us but left us wanting more. Delicious Mojito cocktails, attentive but down-to-earth service, all for a pretty reasonable price (although we did spend 50 quid on champagne!).
The main reason I was so impressed? I’d booked for 9pm. At 7pm, Emma was stuck in Manchester, and running very late. I called Saltwater and explained. Despite being fully booked, they happily shifted our booking to 9.30pm, and gave us a leeway of half-an-hour on top of that. When we finally arrived, they urged us not to rush to our table, instead ushering us into the bar for cigarettes and cocktails.
This excellent service comes at the end of a week that began with Emma’s handbag being stolen from The Rescue Rooms a block or two away, causing maximum stress and a number of security issues. For the record, I’d just like everyone to know that the staff and management of the venue have been absolutely disinterested and completely unhelpful. Despite contacting them on numerous occasions, they have not responded to any of our enquiries, and I find this unforgivable. They don’t care about you - the customer, they obviously only care about making money.
If you live in Nottingham, I urge you to save up and go eat at Saltwater, and advise you not to give your hard-earned money to The Rescue Rooms. Simple.

I’m going to save up hard now! I’ve always liked the look of Saltwater (mainly because I like their logo!) but always ended up at Wagamama because it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to eat there!
Petit Paris is good for some nosh, nothing to soak up from an aesthetic point of view - it’s cosy but that’s about it, but the food’s great. That’s my recommenndation!
P.S. Feeling the pain about your partner’s handbag… my fiancªe got mugged near the QMC and her handbag nicked by a gang of 3 teenagers about 6 weeks ago… b*stards!

Aw man – and I really liked the Rescue Rooms when I went to see a couple of bands there.
Sorry to hear about the theft!

One to check out when we get back to uni I think.
I’ve been seeing (or noticing for the first time) a lot of the “who cares about the customers” attitude recently. I think its becoming worse all over the place, theres just not the customer service any more unless you count the “have a nice day” plasticky american variety.

Thanks Colly!
She was OK thankfully! Cut & bruised, but it took her a while before she started feeling safe again!
Hope Emma got her bag back & all’s well.
