Make room on the bookshelf
Seems that the cat is out of the proverbial bag. Yes, there are two Friends of ED books coming out on December 19th both featuring chapters by myself - Blog Design Solutions, and CSS Mastery: Advanced Web Standards Solutions.
I’m finding it quite weird seeing my (often misspelled) name as an author on the mighty Amazon, especially alongside the names of my esteemed co-authors. Anyway, the release dates are a long way off, but I thought it might be a good time to impart a little more info about the two books.
Blog Design Solutions
For those wanting to get the most out of MovableType, Expression Engine, Textpattern and Wordpress, this book should be a must. Each chapter will detail the building of a spankingly shiny blog template using a chosen engine, with chapters from Richard Rutter, Andy Budd, John Oxton, Phil Sherry, Chris J Davis/Michael Heilemann and myself. There will also be a mass of detail about creating local testing environments, building your own PHP blogging engine, and much, much more to keep you enthralled over the Christmas period.
CSS Mastery: Advanced Web Standards Solutions
I’m very excited about being asked to contribute a case study to this book, which will surely be an essential addition to any serious web designer’s bookshelf. Myself and Cameron Moll will be using a myriad of bonkers CSS trickery to further illustrate the complexities described by the book’s author Andy Budd. This book will move on from where Cederholm’s Web Standards Solutions left off, looking at the numerous methods to deal with real-world design problems we all face when using CSS/XHTML .
I’ll echo Andy’s thoughts here. It really has been a pleasure to work closely with other Brit Packers on these books (and the not-so British Mr. Moll, of course). As I say, the books aren’t out for a while, but you can pre-order them on most Amazon stores. I really think you’ll dig these books, so don’t take these as biased recommendations. He-he.
